Obituary of Dorothy A. Dierck

Of Vassar, age 88, died Sunday, August 9, 2009 at Covenant Health Care- Cooper. The funeral service will take place 11:00 AM, at the First Baptist Church of Vassar. Rev. David Somers will officiate with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Family will be present to receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar 5-9PM Wednesday. On Thursday morning Dorothy will be taken to church to lie in state where friends may call from10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00AM. Those desiring, may consider memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church in Vassar or the Lutheran Home of Frankenmuth. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Dorothy was born March 3, 1921 in Saginaw, Michigan the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William and Gertrude (Godfrey) Dierck. Dorothy was a graduate of Vassar High School Class of 1939 and recently celebrated her 70th Class Reunion. She was employed for many years at Blossom Chiropractic in Vassar, Admissions office of Frankenmuth Convalescent Center and the Gift Shop at Zehnders of Frankenmuth. She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church in Vassar where she played the organ for many years. Dorothy liked working with people, cooking and entertaining. Surviving are her step-sister, Maxine Vagaski; nephew, Joe Vagaski and wife Judy of Vassar; many friends and church family; special friends David and Joy Blossom, Ken and Marge Daenzer all of Vassar. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gertrude (Godfrey)Dierck, step-sister, Ruth Ludlum and step-brother, Clifford Wilkinson.
