Obituary of Violet M. Flaming

Mrs. Violet M. Flaming, born in Denver, CO on December 18, 1915, to Oscar and Nellie (Larsen) Hultquist, died on Saturday, July 28th. Services will be held Thursday, August 2, 2012, at 11:00 am, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Rev. Annie Duncan and Rev. Jim Offrink officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, from 3:00pm to 9:00pm. Contributions may be made to Maplewood Manor Nursing Home activity department. Shortly after her birth, her mother died of tuberculosis and Violet spent the first four years of her life in orphanages in Denver and Chicago. Upon her father's remarriage to Myrtle (Barlow), she rejoined her brother, sister, and 5 step-siblings and was raised in Flint. Married to Roy Dunklee at the age 17, she moved to Montrose and had five children. When Roy passed away in 1967 she moved to Gladwin where she met and married Albert Flaming in 1976. He died in 1991. She was also preceded in death by son Roy L. Dunklee, who died at birth, son, Donald Dunklee, his former wife Delores (Baker) Dunklee, her parents, her brother, Carl Hultquist, her sister Beatrice Vandecar, her step-sisters Ella McDougal and Emmajean Doyle, and her step-brothers Ralph, Lewis, and Bill Barlow. Violet's sweet and caring manner is her legacy to those who knew her. Her quick sense of humor and abiding faith were hallmarks of who she was. Her family and friends mourn her passing and celebrate her long and fruitful life. Violet is survived by her son, Eldon Dunklee and wife Donna of Montrose, her daughter Charlotte Needham and husband Jerry of Clio, and her son Jerry Dunklee and his friend Tedra Schneider of Orange, CT, 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, plus nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank the staff at Maplewood Manor in Clio for their 9 years of tender and compassionate care of Violet Flaming.
