James “Jim” was born in Canandaigua, New York, on September 10, 1950, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Ruth (Neuman) DeKruger. Educated locally, Jim attended Lakeville High School and graduated with the Class of 1968. He met and married the love of his life, Sheryl Burt, and they were married on March 7, 1970. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on a wonderful Caribbean Cruise. That was one of their favorite trips together. Jim worked as a lineman among other things, for General Motors until his retirement in 1988. Working on cars was what Jim was most passionate about. He could fix anything and enjoyed every minute of it. Jim was a wonderful cook and truly enjoyed making food for his family. He loved to create new recipes for them. When he wasn’t out working in the garage or cooking in the kitchen, Jim enjoyed going to Saganing Eagle’s Casino in Pinconning. In his free time, he enjoyed watching TV shows like Wheel of Fortune or anything car-related and feeding the birds out in the yard. He was a wonderful, husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed.

Left to cherish Jim's memory are his beloved wife, Sheryl DeKruger; children: James and wife, Tonya DeKruger, Kristy and husband, Jeremy Sepper; grandchildren: Tyler Hargarther and significant other, Charles Pudelko, Keven Craven and girlfriend, Maggie Horton, Jacob Sepper, Teagan Sepper; mother-in-law: Helen Burt; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and his father-in-law, Harold Burt.
