Obituary of Maliki Ezekiel Kern-Smith
Age 3, of Davison, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2023, in Hurley Medical Center with his family by his side. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Pastor Brian Southerland to officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Maliki’s family will be present to receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Maliki was born in Flint, on June 6, 2020, the son of Jamal Kern and Sierra Young. Maliki was a wonderful, energetic, loving, little boy who doted on his little sister. He enjoyed playing with dinosaurs, playing outside, and stacking things. Watching movies like Toy Story and The Good Dinosaur were his favorite. He has a wonderful loving family and he loved staying at his grandparents’ house. There wasn’t an animal that he didn’t love. He was an amazing little boy and will be greatly missed.
Maliki is survived by his mother, Sierra Young; father, Jamal Kern; sister, Malayiah Kern-Smith; great-grandparents: Roxanne (Merel) Miller, and Jack Simons; grandmother, Peggy Kern-Smith; great-great-great grandmother, Wanda Brink; two uncles: Austin (Lilly Camacho), and Landon Matusik Newman; godmother, Patricia Burchi; aunts: Jasmin Rodriguez, Sierra Stonecipher, Ashley, Allison, Brink, Alexis, Amie (Ronald) Shanks; and many other family members.
Maliki was preceded in death by his grandmother, Roxanna Brink, and godfather, Anthony Shook.
