Obituary of Margaret Ann Berian
Age 81, of Mt. Morris, passed away Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Ascension Genesys Hospital, with her family by her side. A funeral service will take place at 12:00 noon, Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettell to officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Margaret’s family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 noon. Margaret was born in Flint, on May 11, 1942, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold and Ida (Garder) Swanson. Educated locally, Margaret attended Mt. Morris High School, graduating as the Salutatorian of the Class of 1960. Margaret continued her education after high school, attending Central Michigan University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. After graduation, Margaret returned to her hometown and began working as a teacher for Mt. Morris Middle School. Margaret dedicated 28 years to the school district, retiring in 1992. On July 11, 1964, Margaret married the love of her life, Richard Berian, at the United Methodist Church in Mt Morris. Cooking and creating well-rounded meals was Margaret's specialty. She was an amazing cook. Reading Robert Ludlum novels was one of her favorite pastimes. Margaret loved to fish and enjoyed traveling to Canada where she and Richard would be flown onto a lake, and they were the only people there. It was their private getaway. Margaret had an amazing flower garden and especially enjoyed caring for her peonies. In her free time, she enjoyed crafting and spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish Margaret's memory are her beloved husband of 59 years, Richard; sister: Lois Paul; niece and nephew: Kristi and husband, Steve Snead, Eric and wife, Deidre Paul; great-nephews and great-nieces: Zack Snead, Brennen Paul, Elsha Paul, Kellan Paul. Brother-in-law Mike and wife Marcia Berian, Lorraine Palmer, Nieces Amber Berian and Michelle Shepherd from Arizona.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents: Arnold and Ida; and brothers: Tom Swanson, and Ron Swanson.
