Age 97, of Monticello, Florida, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023, in Centre Pointe Nursing Home with her family by her side. In accordance with Adeline’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There are no further services scheduled at this time. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on Adeline’s tribute wall at martinfuneralhome.com.

Adeline was born in Strasburg, North Dakota on May 5, 1926, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand and Elizabeth (Schumacher) Mattern. Growing up on her beloved family farm, Adeline had a horse named Black Beauty, that she enjoyed riding and caring for. Adeline met and married the love of her life, James Godair, on May 5, 1972. Their union would be blessed with four wonderful children. Sadly, he preceded her in death on January 3, 1990. When she became old enough, Adeline went to work for General Motors, on the assembly line for 30 years until her retirement. After retirement, Adeline continued working by cleaning houses until she was 80 years old. Adeline was one of the hardest-working women you would ever meet. Strong in her faith, Adeline was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Florida. She enjoyed attending church as well as spending time with her church friends. She was quite an amazing woman and loved her family fiercely. They were her heart and soul. She cherished the many years she was able to spend time with her grandchildren. Adeline loved to cook and was famous for her delicious heath bar cake and German noodles. She enjoyed gardening and especially loved flowers. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish Adeline's memory are her son, Darrell and wife, Dorlene Mitzel; grandchildren: Ken and wife, Gloria, Kammie and husband, Rick, Kim, Kyle and wife Janice, Connor, Tracy and husband, Jim, Kelly, Chod, Rick; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Adeline was preceded in death by her husband, James Godair; parents; children: Gladys, Alvin, and Sharlene; grandchildren: Keith, and Michael; brothers: Leo and Elmer.
