Obituary of Darlene Jones
Age 77, of Genesee, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023, at home with her family by her side. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, June 30, 2023, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Pastor Sarah LaRose-Nettle to officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Darlene’s family will be present to receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Darlene was born in Lepanto, Arkansas, on November 9, 1945, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Duff and Clemie (Honeycutt) May. She met and married the love of her life, Ernest Jones on June 2, 1962, at a friend’s house. Their union would be blessed with two wonderful sons. Darlene had a green thumb and loved to tend to her house plants as well as her vegetable garden and flower beds. Darlene attended church at Fruitland Baptist Church until it closed and then started attending Buela Land Christian Center. Darlene loved to spend time with her family. Some of those outings included, camping along the Au Sable River, traveling around the Upper Peninsula, and traveling to Tennessee and Arkansas to visit her family. Cooking was one of her favorite pastimes. She always made sure everyone was fed and full before they left her home. In her free time, Darlene enjoyed reading and crocheting. She will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Darlene's memory is her beloved husband of 61 years, Earnest Jones; sons: Robby and wife, Judy Jones, Jeffrey Jones; grandchildren: Tom, Brett, Matthew, Patrick and wife, Desiree; great-grandchildren: Lila, Paige, Jacob, Brooklyn, Blake; nephew, Darwin May; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; twin sisters: Billie and Bobbie.
