In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Mary’s School in Mt. Morris. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Carl was born July 5, 1945 in Flint the son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl and Elizabeth (Ososki) Phillpotts. Educated locally, Carl attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Mt. Morris and would graduate there with the Class of 1964. He would then go on to serve in the US Army, stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas. Upon his return to civilian life, Carl’s career would lead him to the automotive industry, where he worked as a certified mechanic for GM’s Truck and Bus Assembly in Flint, where he was better known as “Radar.” He was a member of UAW Local #598 and retired with 44 years of service in 2008. As a young man, he and Jeanne Stevens were united in marriage on August 10, 1968 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. St. Mary’s remained important to Carl throughout his life as he was a Eucharistic Minister, lector and reader, donated his time to the St. Vincent de Paul and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Holy Family Council #4285. He had a great sense of humor, was a talented carpenter and woodworker, enjoyed working on his farm and was a great water skier and dancer. Mostly, he was devoted to his family and will be greatly missed. Left to cherish his memory are: his wife of 48 years, Jeanne, three children, Scott and wife, Tina Phillpotts, Stacy and husband, Michael Brew, and Sarah and husband, Nathan Harrison, five grandchildren, Sydney, Sofia, Spencer, Zachary and Garrett, a brother, Harry and wife, Dianne Phillpotts, two sisters, Earlene Freeman and Jeannie Phillpotts and her fiance, Matt Creager, mother-in-law, Shirley Stevens, special friends, Steve and JoAnn Eleazer, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff and caregivers at Gross Assisted Living in Clio for their compassion and support.
