Of Clio, age 82, died Monday, February 14, 2011 at Brannon Resident Achievement Group. The funeral service will take place, 11:00am, Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Colonial Hills Baptist Church. Pastor Doug Klein will officiate with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, with Graveside Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #158. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00pm to 8:00pm. On Thursday John will be taken to church where he will lie in state from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Memorial contributions may be considered to the Colonial Hills Baptist Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. John was born January 20, 1929 in Flint, Michigan the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles and Elsie (Duncan) Martin. He and Lois Bazor were united in marriage in December 1950. She preceded him in death in 1990. He and Beverly Beasinger were united in marriage February 14, 1995. John proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. John worked at Ternsteadt for 32 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the UAW. He was an active member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and usher. John leaves to cherish his memory his wife Beverly, five children, Danny and wife Cammie Martin, Rita and husband Frank Malik, Janet and husband Keith Bartlett, Paul Martin, and Terri and husband Rob Harmon, four step children, Billy and wife Carla Beasinger, Sheila Beasinger, Alisa and husband Joel Montague, and Diane and husband Don DeMaria, 11 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, two brothers, Ron and wife Helen Martin, and Charles and wife Faye Martin, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Lois, 1 brother Frank Martin, and 3 sisters, Jean Keely, Peggy Young and Ruth Loncarevic.
