Obituary of Gerrard Shute

Of Flint, age 80, died Saturday, May 7, 2011 at home. The funeral service will take place 10:30am, Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris. Pastor David Burkett will officiate with burial to follow in Great Lakes National Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00pm to 8:00pm and on Wednesday from 9:30am until time of service at 10:30am. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW #822. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Jerry was born July 28, 1930 in Ottumwa, Iowa the son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard and Alta Shute. Jerry worked for Streat Fuel for many years, before moving to O'Laughlin Construction, and retired in 2000. Jerry was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers # 324 and the VFW # 822. He enjoyed spending time with his family, yard work and going to the casino. Jerry leaves to cherish his memory, two children, Michael and wife Aimee Shute, and Melissa and husband Joe Morey, six grandchildren, Kimberly, Cody and Anthony Kelling, Noah, Nicholas and Nathan Shute, special friend Wilma Wolfe, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Roderick and sister Barbara.
