Obituary of Marian E. Dolan

Of Mt. Morris, age 98, died Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at her home. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau and Rev. Fr. Gary McInnis will concelebrate with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Marian's family will be present to receive friends at Miles Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris Friday from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. On Friday, family, friends and parish will gather at the funeral home for an Altar Society Rosary at 2:00 p.m. as well as a Scripture Rosary at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday morning, Marian will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the St. Mary's Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Marian was born October 7, 1912 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and Julia (Close) Purcell. She and Francis Dolan were united in marriage February 22, 1936 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Birch Run. He preceded her in death June 23, 1985. Marian was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris where she was active with the League of Sacred Heart and the Altar Society. Left to cherish her memory are four children; Frances (Sister Madeleine) Dolan, Jean and husband Harold Smith, Dennis Dolan and Lori Dolan; three grandchildren, Linda and husband Mark Leigh, Brian and wife Elena Smith, Christine and husband Jefferey DeVeaux; six great grandchildren, Sean, Nicholas, Kelly, Courtney, Mikayla and Patrick; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Francis, two brothers; Donald and Clair Purcell, and three sisters; Nona Reed, Madeline Dolan and Ruth Cox. Marian's family would like to extend a special thank you to Joyce Jackson, as well as the staff of Genesys Hospice.
