Obituary of Robert Stanley Russ

Of Clio, age 82, died Monday, September 12, 2011, at McLaren Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will take place 2:00 pm, Friday, September 16, 2011, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor David Burkett will officiate with burial to follow in Mt. Morris Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, from 1:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Friday, from 12:00 noon until the time of service at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorial contributions to the Humane Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Robert was born August 7, 1929, in Davison, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey and Anna (Huber) Russ. He and Joyce Kurtz were united in marriage December 15, 1980 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Robert worked at General Motors for 39 years and 9 months, until retiring on June 1, 1987. He enjoyed telling jokes and watching sports, including Tigers, Pistons, and the Wolverines. Bob was a wonderfully kind man, who loved animals and his family; he will be greatly missed. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 31 years, Joyce; three daughters, Rebecca Russ, Sheree Russ, and Jacqueline and husband, Patrick Allen; five step-children, Cynthia Kurtz and husband, Jerry Lokken, Michael Kurtz, William Kurtz and fiancee, Chaukley, Joseph and wife, Debbie Kurtz, and Constance Kurtz and husband, Marty Mitchell; 21 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; twin sister, Barbara O'Harris; first wife, Ruby McDill; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers.
