Obituary of Ellen Mae Sweers

Of Mt. Morris, age 81, died Saturday, November 12, 2011, at her home. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Chaplain Goodman Cox will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home Monday, 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm and Wednesday, 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring, may direct memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Ellen was born July 3, 1930, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George and Ellen (Welsh) Smith. Ellen's father preceded her in death when she was young. Her mother re-married to Jack Smith. She and Carl Sweers were united in marriage April 20, 1952. Ellen enjoyed gardening and growing plants; she enjoyed nothing more than raising her family. She will be remembered for being a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; Ellen will be deeply missed. Left to cherish her memory are five children, Larry and wife, LeeAnn Sweers, Pamela and husband, Michael Hottois, Carl Sweers, Judy and husband, Jimmie Clark and Glenn Sweers; 15 grandchildren, Candie, Pamela, Tina, Michelle, Tunya, Amy, Carl, Joshua, Alicia, Stephanie, Amanda, Brittanie, Sandra, Jamie and Glenn; 17 great-grandchildren, with one on the way; and nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Jack Smith; husband of 43 years, Carl; son, Steven Sweers; and two sisters, Pauline and husband, Earl Cramer and Georgia and husband, Robert Tabbert. The family would like to extend a special 'thank you' to ladies from Home & Hospice Advantage, as well as Dr. Arnold and Dr. Streff.
