Of Vassar, age 82, died Sunday, January 1, 2012, at his home. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Thursday, January 5, 2012, at Martin Funeral Home - Vassar. Pastor Darwin Highlen will officiate with burial to follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, 12:00 noon until 8:00 pm. Those desiring, may direct memorial contributions to the family fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. George was born June 24, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George and Maude (Hammond) Maguire. He and Cora Taylor were united in marriage March 28, 1950. George enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, playing Bingo, going on trips to Cedar Point and spending time with his grandkids; he will be greatly missed. George leaves to cherish his memory, eight children, Ruth Nancy, Georgia and husband, James Lewis, Sherry and husband, Gordon Bender, Amylou Maquire, Marie and husband, William Breathaur, Peggy and husband, Ray Reichard, Kenneth Maquire and James Maquire and wife, Janet; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Cora Marie; granddaughter, Amy Joy Dalecke; three sisters; and three brothers.
