Obituary of Betty Sorensen

Of Mt. Morris, age 73, died Thursday, February 2, 2012, at MediLodge of Montrose. Cremation has taken place. The memorial service will take place 4:00 pm, Monday, February 6, 2012, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Chaplain Steve Hittle will officiate. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home Monday, February 6, 2012 from 2:00 pm until the time of service at 4:00 pm. Those desiring, may direct memorial contributions to the American Lung Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Betty was born January 3, 1939, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James and Maybelle (Price) Alexander. Later, her mother remarried and Betty was raised by her step-father, Thomas Foster. She and Randy Sorensen were united in marriage August 8, 1989. Betty owned and operated BJ's Beauty Shop in Burton and was also a counselor for Ponitac Hospital. In her free time, she enjoyed golfing; she will be greatly missed. Left to cherish her memory is, husband of 23 years, Randy; daughter, Candi Barko; step-son, Dave and wife, Gina Sorensen; grandson, James Barko; three step-grandchildren, Evan, Ander and Mara Sorensen; brother, James Alexander; sister, Stephanie Alexander; best friend, Nancy Gantos; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Thomas Foster.
