Obituary of Donald Henry McPherson

Of Clio, age 82, died Thursday, March 1, 2012 at MediLodge of Montrose. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 3, 2012, at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Clio. Pastor Darrel Manning will officiate. Family will receive friends at the churh from 11:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Fellowship Baptist Church. Envelopes are available at the church. Donald was born August 16, 1929, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry and Mattie (Clubb) McPherson. He and Jean Campbell were united in marriage April 15, 1950. Donald proudly served his country in the United States Army, from 1947 to 1948 and played baseball for the US Army Team against many teams, including the Pittsburg Pirates. After his honorable discharge, he became a resort proprietor in the Upper Peninsula and East Tawas, before going into sales for Frito Lay. Don was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Clio. Donald leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 61 years, Jean; four daughters, Sherry (Dennis) Merkle, Terri (Tom) Neuens, Toni (Russ) Bravender, and Doni (Michael) Butzin; son, Matthew (Cheryl) McPherson; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Eleazer; brother-in-law, Patrick (Judith) Campbell; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a special thanks to the Staff of Medi-Lodge of Montrose.
