Obituary of Ferrer Piazza

Ferrer Piazza passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Tendercare in Frankenmuth at the age of 95. Ferrer was born June 28, 1916 in Dearborn, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Valentino and Roma (Tremonti) Piazza. He and Sophia Warba were united in marriage May 18, 1946 in Reese. She preceded him in death May 30, 1993. They had one daughter, Ann, who preceded him in death October 1, 2008. Ferrer was employed by, and retired from, Eaton Foundries in Vassar. He was a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church of Vassar. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus, and was also a lifetime member of the American Legion. Ferrer enjoyed going to church, gardening, visiting and baseball. Left to cherish his memory are son-in-law Michael Gleeson, grandson Steven and wife Tracy (Powell) Gleeson, granddaughter Stacy Gleeson, two great-grandchildren Jenna and Trevor Gleeson, sister Claudia and husband Eber Barnes, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. He was also preceded in death by brothers Renato and Arcangelo (Frank) and his second wife Lula Nusz. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 20, 2012, at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church, with burial to follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Martin Funeral Home in Vassar on Sunday, from 2:00 pm to 8:00pm, and on Monday, from 4:00 pm to 8:00pm. Monday evening, family, friends and parish will gather to pray the Rosary at 7:00 pm. On Tuesday morning Ferrer will be taken to church where he will lie in state from 10:00 am until time of Mass at 11:00 am.
