Obituary of Victor Hallman

Of Standish, age 94, died Sunday, March 18, 2012, at McLaren-Bay Region. The funeral service will take place 10:00 am, Thursday, March 22, 2012, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park, with graveside Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Post #158. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm, Wednesday, from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm and on Thursday, from 9:00 am until time of service at 10:00 am. Vic was born November 28, 1917, in Alpena, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John and Praxeda (Filipiak) Hallman. He and Alverna Hall were united in marriage April 29, 1939, in Angola, Indiana. Vic proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II attaining the rank of MOMM3C. He was a member of the VFW Post #8236 - Flint. He worked at General Motors for 24 years, until his retirement. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 73 years, Alverna; children; Victor, Jr. and wife Cecelia Hallman, Patricia Kapanowski, Harry and wife Carol Hallman, Robert and wife Kelly Hallman, Michael Hallman and wife Marilyn Conley, Bill and Sandy Ruszkowski; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Victor was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Sophia and Irene; brothers; John and Harry and one great-granddaughter, Allison.
