Obituary of George L. Vickers

Of Clio, age 76, died Monday, June 4, 2012, at McLaren-Flint. A Life Celebration will take place 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Cremation will follow. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Wednesday, from 1:00 pm until time of service at 2:00 pm. Memorial donations may be considered to the McLaren Visiting Nurses, McLaren Cancer Institute or Alzheimers Association. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. George was born October 26, 1935, in Mt. Morris, Michigan, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry and Bessie (Miller) Vickers. He and Carol Ann Smith were united in marriage March 25, 1961. George served his country in the United States Army. He worked for AC Spark Plug for 30 years, retiring in 1989. George enjoyed golfing, traveling, snowmobiling, yard work and gardening. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Carol; three children, Kory Vickers, Kendra and husband, Rick Tucker and Kem Vickers; six grandchildren, Troy Owen, Mckayla Vickers, Justine and McKenzie Tucker and Jamie and Ryan Vickers; brother, Robert and wife, Karen Vickers; sister, Eva Bebo; many nieces and nephews; and a special thanks to all of his many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Daniel Vickers; one brother; and four sisters.
