Obituary of David Ward Simons

Of Mt. Morris, age 58, passed Tuesday, August 7, 2012, doing what he lovedriding a motorcycle. The funeral service will take place 3:00 pm, Sunday, August 12, 2012, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor David Burkett will officiate with cremation to follow. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home, Friday, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Saturday, from 10:00 am until 8:00 pm, and Sunday, from 10:00 am until the time of service at 3:00 pm. Those desiring, may direct memorial contributions to the family fund. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. David was born January 5, 1954, in Fairbanks, Alaska, the son of Mr. and Mrs. David and Leona (Vaughn) Simons, Sr. Derby enjoyed motorcycles, boats, and spending time with his family. He was a member of a motorcycle club and a father figure to many. King Derby leaves to cherish his memory, wife, Jerri Lu; twin daughters, Lauren and Chelsea Simons; mother of his children, Kim Simons; brothers, Kimberly and wife, Susie Simons and Steve Simons; sister, Sandy and husband, Chris Miller; self-proclaimed son, Bam-Bam; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
