Obituary of Elzora Marie Baker

Of Fairgrove, age 83, died Thursday, September 6, 2012 at her home. The funeral service will take place 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Martin Funeral Home - Fairgrove. Burial to follow in Baker Tollison Cemetery in Sparta, Tennessee. On Friday family will receive family and friends from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the funeral home and on Saturday from 1:00 pm until the time of service at 2:00 pm. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the Heartland Hospice or Tuscola County Meals on Wheels. Envelopes are available at the funeral home. Marie was born April 3, 1929, in Sevierville, Tennessee the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Rosa (Maples) Ogle. She and Virgil Lee Baker were united in marriage in Detroit in 1954. Marie worked for General Plating in Detroit for over 20 years. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, cross stitch, fishing, hunting, boating, riding motorcycles, nurturing (being a grandma), and gardening. Marie enjoyed watching NASCAR Racing especially Jeff Gordon. Left to cherish her memory is daughter, Shirley and husband, Brian Peterson;son, James and wife Laura Baker;son Ronald and wife Jean Baker; sister Mary Catlett; grandchildren, Tamra, Raechel, DeeAnn, Andy, Kristy, Jamie, Jeffery, Heather, Erin, Penny, Richie; 19 and a half great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; and very special friends Mike and Kelly Urban; many nieces, nephews, family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Virgil; son Gary; grandson Lee; and 5 siblings.
