Obituary of Dorothy B. Rumsey

Of Mt. Morris, age 85, died Tuesday, September 11, 2012. The funeral service will take place, Friday, September 14, 2012, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Flushing. Pastor Clifford Bira will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Dorothy's family will be present at the Martin Funeral Home in Mt. Morris on Thursday to receive friends from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm. On Friday Dorothy will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Dorothy was born December 18, 1926, in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vern and Nellie (Viers) Roth. Dorothy graduated from Mt. Morris High School Class of 1943. She worked for St. Joseph Hospital for 25 years before retiring. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, being active in church, teaching Sunday School, Thursday lunches at La Villa Restaurant & Pizzeria and loving her three grand dogs. Left to cherish her memory, five children; Vivian and husband, James McGee, Margie and husband, Gene Walton, Janice Hohn, Paul Rumsey and Beth, and Aaron Stewart; 10 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Betty Sies. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Luanne Stewart and three sisters.
