Obituary of Bernadette C. Cushman
Age 89, of Clio, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 4, 2023, at her home, with her family by her side. A Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 noon, Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services. Rev. Fr. Roy Horning to officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park. Bernadette’s family will be present to receive friends from 10:30 am until the time of service at 12 noon. Bernadette was born in Medford, Massachusetts, on February 3, 1934, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William and Mabel (Hureau) Murray. Bernadette attended Medford High School and graduated with the Class of 1953. She met and married the love of her life, Durward Cushman, on April 20, 1958, in Medford, Massachusetts. Their union would be blessed with three beautiful children. Sadly, he preceded her in death on April 16, 2019. Bernadette worked as a lineman for AC Spark Plug for over 30 years until her retirement. Bernadette was a caregiver and loved to tend to her husband and children. She was the only girl of seven children and was well-protected growing up. Bernadette enjoyed spending time boating with her family and friends on their houseboat in Bay City. In her younger years, she enjoyed being outside snowmobiling, water skiing, and roller skating. She also enjoyed taking trips to see her parents in Massachusetts, spending time in the sun, and eating lobster. She was an active mother of three and devoted her life to her family.
Left to cherish Bernadette's memory are her son, Jon Cushman; siblings: Richard and wife, Judith Murray, Charles Murray and Ellen Britsch; sister-in-law, Patricia Coffinn; aunt, Theresa Liguori; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Bernadette was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Durward; her parents; beloved children: Michael Cushman and Lynne Cushman; siblings: William, Phillip, Robert, and John.
