Obituary of Patricia Lee Weir
Age 68, of Mt. Morris, died Sunday, January 29, 2023, at home with her family by her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Roy Horning to officiate, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Pat's family will be present to receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services on Monday from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. On Monday evening, family, friends, and parish will gather at 7:00 pm, to pray the Rosary. On Tuesday morning Pat will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Pat was born in Flint on November 3, 1954, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin and Madgelean (Birchfield) Gilbert. Educated locally, she graduated from Elisabeth Ann Johnson High School with the class of 1972. She went on to obtain her associate's degree from Hurley Hospital's Nursing School. Shortly after graduating from nursing school, Pat went to work at Hurley Hospital as a Registered Nurse. Pat was an amazing person and loved and cared for her family. She loved her nieces and nephews more than life. She was always there to support them all in every way she could. Pat followed them to every game and every function. Pat had a strong faith and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She took great care of all her family as the matriarch after their mother passed. Pat enjoyed traveling out West, to Ireland, and Greece, and her favorite was driving to Minnesota. She loved to read anything she could get her hands on. Pat enjoyed hiking and seeing the sites at new places. Cooking was one of her favorite pastimes and she used her gift of cooking when she catered weddings and cooked for her family. Pat loved hockey and could often be found attending the Detroit Red Wings and the Flint Generals Hockey games. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Left to cherish Pat's memory are her siblings: Michael and wife, Ruth Gilbert, Marva and husband, Tom Baier, William and wife, Karen Gilbert, Steven and wife, Colette, Jeffery and wife, Rena, special brother, Mark Mankowski; several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. step-children: Mike Weir and Joelle Underwood.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents: Marvin and Madge Gilbert, and brothers: Terry, and Kevin.
