Obituary of Shirley Lorraine Gagnon
Age 87, of Flint, peacefully passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022. In accordance with Shirley’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Burial Service will take place on her birthday, Sunday, March 5, 2023, at 2:00 pm, at Richfield Union Cemetery, Davison, MI, with Military Honors. Memorial Donations may be considered to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601. Shirley was born in Flint, Michigan on March 5, 1935, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter and Eva Irene (Louis) Gagnon. Educated locally, Shirley graduated from Kearsley High School with the class of 1953. Heeding the call to serve her country. Shirley served as a combat return medic in the United States Air Force on her base's hospital during the Korean Conflict and is recognized by name at the Military Women's Memorial in Washington, D.C. Shirley was incredibly proud of her military service for the entirety of her life. Upon returning to civilian life, Shirley worked for AC Spark Plug until her retirement. Her two children, Pat and Eric, remember her as a vivacious woman with great humor. In her younger years, she loved to train and ride horses. Shirley loved to fish and make small jewelry pieces with glass beads. She also loved her rose garden, dedicating many hours to making the roses look their best. She was a “cat lady” through and through and had decorations around her home that reflected that.
Left to cherish Shirley’s memory are her loving children, Eric Boog and Patricia Manzo; grandchildren, Eric Ryan Boog, Anthony Manzo; several great-grandchildren; special friends, Linda Sterling and Theresa McNally.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, John Manzo and Stanley Boog, and true love, Mabin "Al" Tinnin.
