Obituary of James Michael "Mike" Jones
Age 81, of Mount Morris, died October 5, 2022, at Ascension Genesys Hospital with his family by his side. A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at North End Baptist Church, 7360 Clio Rd, Mt Morris, with Pastor Jon Locke officiating. Mike’s family will be present to receive friends at the church from 12:00 pm until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Friends are invited to join Mike’s family for a luncheon following the church service in the Fellowship Hall. Memorial contributions may be considered to the Dementia Society of America, with envelopes available at the church. Mike was born on July 8, 1941, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Ruby (Wiechman) Jones, one of eleven children. Educated locally, Mike graduated from Clio High School with the class of 1960. After graduation, Mike was a dedicated General Motors employee for 40 years, retiring in 2001. Mike was heavily involved in the Union, as a committeeman for UAW Local #659. On July 1, 1961, Mike married the love of his life, Joyce. Their happy union would be blessed with two children. Mike loved to hunt, fish, and be outdoors in his free time. The family cabin in St. Helen was a favorite spot to relax and have fun. Music was essential to Mike’s life; you could always count on Ray Price, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Kris Kristofferson, or Waylon Jennings playing in the background while spending time with Mike.
Left to cherish Mike’s memory are his loving wife, Joyce; children, Chris and wife, Tricia Jones, Scott Jones and fianceé Audra Cross; grandchildren, Lisa, Jessica, Kristen, and husband David, Katie, Morgan, and husband Mike, and Justin; great-grandchildren, Riley, Addilyn, and Aiden; sister, Pat, and several nieces and nephews.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Ruby Jones; siblings, Joe, Clarence, Elmer, John, Leota, Helen, Mary, and two infant siblings.
