Obituary of Dennis George Salim
Age 69, of Clio, passed away Monday, September 12, 2022, at Covenant-Harrison with his family by his side. In accordance with Dennis’ wishes, cremation has taken place. Dennis was born in Flint on May 9, 1953, the son of Fred Salim. Educated locally, Dennis graduated from Flint Northern High School with the Class of 1971. Shortly after graduation, Dennis proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corp. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to the states where he went on to obtain his doctorate degree in Sociology to become a licensed counselor. Dennis met and married the love of his life, SuEllen Smith, in January of 1980. Dennis worked many years for The Great Put On in Flint, where he sold thousands of t-shirts. He was an amazing salesman and could sell anything to anyone. Dennis had the best flower garden around and enjoyed tending to his flower beds. Dennis was a fantastic cook and enjoyed making middle Eastern Cuisine as well as grilling steaks and baking Baklava. Dennis loved to shop and could often be found in antique shops or anywhere he could find tools. Another of his favorite hobbies was attending any car show that displayed custom hot rods and classic cars. In his free time, Dennis enjoyed fishing, watching All in the Family, and eating at the A in Flushing. He loved children and had a great sense of humor and always made his beloved wife laugh. He will be greatly missed.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, SuEllen Salim, several brothers and sisters-in-law, several cousins, and friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
