Gerald was born in Flint, on March 23, 1945, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Julia (Marek) Coleman. Educated locally, Gerald graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School with the class of 1963. He then went on to GMI for 4 years. Gerald met and married the love of his life, Carol Young, on May 5, 1967. Sadly, she preceded him in death on August 23, 2005. Gerald worked in Quality Control for General Motors until his retirement on November 1, 2004. Gerald was drafted into the United States Army, where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Gerald was an avid hunter and never missed an opportunity to attend deer camp in Mesick, which he had been attending for over 40 years. He enjoyed watching his children race BMX bikes and was a proud volunteer for the BMX association for the last 15 years. Watching NASCAR and attending car shows like Back to the Bricks and the Sloan Museum were just some of the things he enjoyed. He was a John Deere tractor enthusiast as well. He loved to be outside looking at trees and the beautiful birds all around him. But most of all, Gerald loved his grandchildren and never missed one of their sporting events. He will be greatly missed.
