Dorothy was born in Kennett, Missouri, on May 2, 1944, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James and Dorothy (Ursey) Patterson. Educated locally, Dorothy graduated from Bendle High School with the Class of 1962. On April 24, 1965, she married the love of her life, David Dominy. Their union would be blessed with two beautiful daughters. Sadly, he preceded her in death on December 23, 2005. Dorothy started her working career as a waitress at the West Side Diner. From there, she went on to work as a Secretary for The Detroit News and The Flint Journal until her retirement in 2016. Dorothy loved to dance and dancing with her beloved husband was her favorite. She loved to dance so much that she taught line dancing at the Krapohl Senior Center, where she was a member as well as the Secretary. Dorothy loved her family and enjoyed family get-togethers, having everyone over to her home, where they would play volleyball and all kinds of board and card games. Dorothy had a beautiful flower garden and took great pride in her beautiful flowers. Lilacs were her favorite, even though they didn’t last long. She was a wonderful cook and baker and had many favorite dishes. Her brownies were always a big hit. In her free time, Dorothy enjoyed reading historical fiction, and watching Dr. Quinn, Walker Texas Ranger, Andy Griffith, and Little House on the Prairie. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory are her daughters: Michelle and husband, Jim Newberry, Kristin and husband, Joe Queen; grandchildren: Matthew, Kayla, Krista, Jordan, Christian; great-grandchildren: Brooklynn, Jaycee, Parker, Kameron, Jordan, Jr., Nash, Maverick, Jayden, Ora, Everly, Paisley, Julian; siblings: Jim and wife, Terry Patterson, Janet and husband, Joe Keena, Timmy Patterson, Pat and wife, Tammy Patterson, Kim Patterson, several nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband, David; her parents, and her sister, Debbie Niver.
