Obituary of Elaine Elizabeth White
Age 92, of Flushing, passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Bella Vita Senior Living. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Roy Horning to officiate. Elaine’s family will be present to receive friends from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. On Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm, family, friends, and parish will gather to pray the Rosary. On Wednesday morning, Elaine will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Mary Catholic Church. Elaine was born in Flint on October 20, 1928, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin John and Alice Amelia (Wetters) Laracey. Educated locally, Elaine graduated from Flint Northern High School as the Valedictorian, with the Class of 1946. She went on to study at the University of Michigan where she completed her bachelor’s degree in Math. Her original field of study was for Engineering, but back then she was told women should not be engineers, so she tutored all of the men in her class and still graduated top of her class, graduating in 1950. Elaine went to work right out of college for AC Spark Plug and Dow Chemical until she would start her family in 1956. Elaine met the love of her life, Robert C. White, in grade school, and the two were united in marriage on July 30, 1955, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Flint. Their union would bear six beautiful children. Sadly, her beloved Robert preceded her in death on February 18, 2010. Elaine loved to travel and was proud of the fact that she was able to go to all 50 states, as well as Mexico, the Caribbean, Canada, and Europe. She started playing the piano when she was just 10 years old, having received the piano as a gift for her birthday, and has loved it ever since. Entertaining and having family get-togethers was what she enjoyed most of all. She loved her sweets, anything chocolate would do. In her free time, Elaine enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting, and painting pictures of scenery, but most important to her was her family and oh, how she did love them all.
Left to cherish Elaine’s memory are her children: Kevin and wife, Christine White, Patrick and wife, Christie White, Alice Daly and husband, Richard Hippe, Betty and husband, Kevin Rush, Grace and husband, Dan House; grandchildren: Greg and wife, Adele White, Elizabeth and husband, Aaron McBride, Jennifer and husband, Patrick Galey, Sean White and Kristin Cobuzzi, Kate White and Josh Nagy, Tom Daly and Emily Smelker, Kerry and husband, Jeff Bellinger, Ben Daly and Alissa Sampson, Rhiannon Rush, Sierra Rush, Ryan House, and Alexandra House; great-grandchildren: George, Henry, Freddie, Charlotte, Wren, Felix, and Jack; several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Elaine was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Robert; her parents; son, Richard White.
