Obituary of Carolyn Marie Watkins
Age 84, of Holly, formerly of Mt. Morris, passed away Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Mission Point of Holly. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, September 17, 2021, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. Pastor Brian Southerland to officiate, with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, and again from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am on Friday. Carolyn was born in Mt. Morris on March 6, 1937, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie and Marie (Burnham) Roth. Educated locally, Carolyn graduated from Mt. Morris High School with the Class of 1955. Carolyn married the love of her life, Charles Watkins, on May 17, 1958. The two shared 57 wonderful years together. Sadly, he preceded her in death on May 29, 2017. Carolyn enjoyed keeping herself busy. She loved to bowl and bowled on several leagues at the East Town Bowling Alley. Carolyn enjoyed playing cards and could often be found playing poker, euchre, or cribbage with her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time at her cabin in Hale camping and fishing. She often conned her husband into stopping at the casino on their way to and from the cabin. Carolyn was a very social person, and she spent much time visiting with those she loved. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting with the neighbor ladies and attending luncheons with her family. Carolyn was an amazing person who was deeply devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren and was a grandmother to all the kids, and she will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Carolyn’s memory are her children: Dale and Betty (Kirby) Watkins, Steven and wife, Jodi Watkins grandchildren: Sarah and husband, William Owenby, Stephanie and husband, Anthony Sanchez, Kimberlie Watkins, and Xavier Soto, Jonathan Watkins, Holly Rosales, Katharyn Rosales, Kristie Kirby, great-grandchildren; Brielle, Dominic, Wren, Adrian, Mya, Payton; brothers: Fred and wife, Shirley Roth, Chris Roth, Lawrence and wife, Sharon Roth; sister, Mary and husband, Larry Cross; sisters-in-law: Ronnie Roth, Sue Roth; several nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles; parents; siblings: Leroy, Donna, Glenn, Leslie, Butch, Elizabeth; brothers-in-law, Charles Fias, Jr., Orville Naler; sisters-in-law: Joann Roth, Janice Roth, and Barb Roth.
