Obituary of Rita Gladys Girard

Age 73, of Clio, died Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at her home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. The family will be present to receive friends from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at the funeral home and again on Wednesday from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Condolences may be shared with the family at martinfuneralhome.com.

Rita was born in Flint, Michigan on June 4, 1948, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence and Marjorie (Ehrmantraut) Girard. Raised and educated locally, Rita graduated from Mt. Morris High School with the Class of 1966. Rita went on to become an assembly line worker for General Motors, working for 30 years before her retirement. Growing up and as an adult, while raising her daughter, Rita enjoyed camping and would often take her daughter to Mesick, Michigan. Rita enjoyed spending time outdoors, she liked fishing and loved gathering around a bonfire. She was a huge Detroit Tigers fan, when she didn’t have tickets to the game she would be sure to watch it wherever she was. If Rita couldn’t be outside you could find her inside watching Western Country movies or she’d be gone to the casino. Most of all Rita loved family gatherings, especially when her grandchildren were there. She had a special bond with all of them throughout the years.

Left to cherish Rita’s memory are her daughter: Tracie and husband, Jeff Iski; grandchildren: Roni, Timothy, Collin, Chanler, and Lincoln; great-grandson: Rodney; siblings: Violet, Lori, Larry, Marilynn; special family members: Kathy, Sue, John, Marlea; the dearest of friend: Diane; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and family members.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents.
