Stephen was born in Flint on December 13, 1968, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Margo (Roberts) Henley. Educated locally, he graduated from Flint Northern High School with the Class of 1986. After graduation, Stephen began working as a carpet installer, employed for Wentworth's Carpet for many years.

Stephen loved to fish, especially at his daughter’s pond. As he caught fish, Stephen was known to name each of them! An avid bass fisherman and hunter, Stephen also enjoyed ice fishing, deer hunting, and camping with his children in Mio or near the Mackinac Bridge. Stephen enjoyed watching game shows, especially Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and The Price Is Right. And he always made time to read his Bible. Stephen will be remembered as a people person, who loved gathering with his family and friends.
