Obituary of Janene Cheri Carpenter

Age 69, of Mt. Morris, died Friday, April 23, 2021, at McLaren Hospital, Flint, MI. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1:00 pm, Thursday, May 6, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Fr. Roy Horning will officiate. The family will be present to receive family and friends at Martin Funeral Home, Mt. Morris, MI on Wednesday, May 5, from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary Service from 7:00 to 7:30 pm. On Thursday morning, Mrs. Carpenter will be taken to St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Visitation will be 12:00 pm until the time of Funeral Mass at 1:00 pm. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Mary Catholic Church. Janene was born in Flint, Michigan, on December 14, 1951, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Lamar and Ruby Marguerite (Gibbs) Mattison. Janene graduated from Flushing High School with the Class of 1971. She met the love of her life and husband, Dennis Carpenter, at McLaren Hospital where they both worked. The two were united in marriage on August 25, 1973. He preceded her in death on October 15, 2015. After graduation, Janene went to work for McLaren Hospital until retirement in 2008. Janene was a positive, happy person who was loved by everyone, she never met a stranger. She loved to travel on trips with her sisters to Florida, Lake Huron, and Lexington. Janene loved spoiling her little dogs, Journey Jewel and Macy Mae. She was a devoted wife of 42 years and loved to dance and sing at family weddings and on sister trips. She was all about her family, they were the center of her life. Family gatherings were a big part of her life and she loved her family deeply.
Janene leaves to cherish her memory siblings: Charmaine (Mark) Monson, Rachelle (Keith) Powell, Marcilene (Darwin) Balcom, Eugene Mattison, Chontae (Alan) Belville, Valerie (Donald) Pittman; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and special friends.
Janene was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years: Dennis Carpenter, her parents, Eugene and Ruby Mattison and nephew, Marvin Powell.
