Obituary of Ferne Lovetta Kvanvig

Please share a memory of Ferne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

COVID-19 UPDATE: With the recent guidelines limiting the number of people to less than 25 at any gathering, we are asking that you consider other ways to help support family and friends during this difficult time as an alternative to attending a visitation or funeral.

Age 85, of Grand Blanc, died Friday, January 22, 2021, at home with her family by her side. In accordance with Ferne’s wishes, there are no further services scheduled at this time. Expressions of sympathy and memorial contributions to Trinity Bible College and Graduate School may be placed on Ferne’s online memorial page by going to www.martinfuneralhome.com.

Ferne was born in Noonan, North Dakota, on September 23, 1935, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hjalmer and Laura (Huwe) Jensen. Educated in North Dakota, Ferne graduated with the class of 1953. In the fall of 1954, she met and fell in love with Clifford “Cliff” Kvanvig at Trinity Bible School in Devils Lake, North Dakota. They were united in marriage on July 11, 1955. Ferne and Cliff lived in Ohio, and New Jersey before moving to Tokyo for her husband’s work. They traveled throughout Europe in 1986 before moving back to Ohio. Ferne was a homemaker-while raising their three daughters; she then worked in accounting for numerous churches and businesses while the children were in college. In 1996, Ferne and Cliff built their dream home in Metamora, Michigan, prior to moving to Grand Blanc in 2012. Together they became devoted to New Life Christian Fellowship. Ferne was very active in church extending her love and care through the women’s ministry and home groups. She greeted all visitors, remembered everyone’s name, and made them all feel welcome. Everyone who met Ferne would describe her as gentle, kind, and gracious. Ferne never forgot the birthdays of family members, including nieces and nephews; and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Clifford “Cliff” Kvanvig; children: Mishell and husband, Norman Hollenback, Janice and husband, Michael Israel, Tammy and husband, Kelvin Lott; 11 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Edith Kvanvig.

Ferne was preceded in death by her parents; sisters: Doris DePriest, and Ruth Pospisil.
