Winifred was born in Flint, Michigan, on March 8, 1933, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl and Winifred (Whitehurst) Gunther. She grew up in Beecher, second to the youngest of 14 children, educated locally through the Beecher Schools, graduating from Beecher High School with the Class of 1952. After graduation, Martha went to work at Fisher Body Ternstedt, where she worked production for 30 years until her retirement. Devoted wife, mom, and grandma, Martha loved family gatherings. While working on the line at Fisher Body Ternstedt, Martha would meet a handsome construction worker named Ned Gosselin. The two dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on December 31, 1954. Martha was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Mt. Morris. Martha was a great cook. She was very practical and could make something out of nothing. She loved to travel, go to the beach, and athletics. Martha was an avid softball player throughout her entire life and loved summer vacations. In her free time, Martha enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, carpentry work, decorating, flowers, flower arrangements, and canning.
Winifred leaves to cherish her memory three daughters: Cindy and husband, Teddy Campbell, Wendy White, Mary and husband, Patrick Kidd; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years: Ned; son: Frank; eight brothers and five sisters.
