Please share a memory of Florence to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

COVID-19 UPDATE: With the recent guidelines limiting the number of people to less than 25 at any gathering, we are asking that you consider other ways to help support family and friends during this difficult time as an alternative to attending a visitation or funeral.

Age 100, of Davison, passed away Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Ascension Genesys Hospital. In accordance with Florence’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Expressions of sympathy and memorial contributions to Rose Cottage Assisted Living may be directed to Florence’s tribute page at martinfuneralhome.com.

Florence was born in Alpena, Michigan, on January 20, 1920, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. and Mable M. (Paquin) Aikens. Born and raised in Alpena, Florence graduated from Alpena High School with the Class of 1938. After high school, Florence worked locally in the retail business until 1942 when she would move to Detroit with her sister, and begin her career at the National Bank of Detroit. She worked as an administrative assistant before working her way up in the company, earning a position in the accounting department. In 1977, with 35 years of service, Florence retired from the bank as the administrative assistant to the bank president. After her retirement, she moved to Mt. Morris to be closer to her family. In her free time, Florence enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephews, traveling, vacationing on Lake Huron in Alpena but most important to her was reading her Bible. The family would like to thank the staff of Rose Cottage Assisted Living for Florence's love and care over the last four years.

Florence leaves to cherish her memory; two nieces: Doris Hipps and Bonnie and husband, David Horsfield; two great-nieces: Shannon and husband, Jasan Bryan and Stacy and husband, Tom Wilson; two great-nephews: Keir Horsfield and Erik Horsfield; five great-great-nieces; and two great-great nephews.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Marjorie Huggler; brother-in-law, Andrew Huggler; brother, Lloyd Aikens; and sister-in-law, Beverly Aikens.
