Please share a memory of Michael to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

COVID-19 UPDATE: With the recent guidelines limiting the number of people to less than 25 at any gathering, we are asking that you consider other ways to help support family and friends during this difficult time as an alternative to attending a visitation or funeral.

Due to the power outage in Vassar, the visitation, and funeral information has been updated.

Age 73, of Vassar, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020, at Covenant Health Care-Cooper with his family by his side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 21, 2020, at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Christian Tabares to officiate. Michael's family will be present to receive friends from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Vassar. At 7:00 pm on Friday, family, friends, and parish will gather to pray the Rosary. On Saturday, Michael will be taken to church to lie in state from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be considered to the American Legion Scholarship Foundation. Expressions of sympathy may be placed on Michael's tribute page at martinfuneralhome.com.

Michael was born in Saginaw on March 18, 1947, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob and Olive (Kern) Gleeson. Educated locally, Michael graduated from Vassar High School with the Class of 1965. Michael met and married the love of his life, Ann Piazza, on October 26, 1968, at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Vassar. Sadly, she preceded him in death on October 1, 2008. Michael worked as the Superintendent of the Tuscola County Road Commission for 38 years until his retirement in 2003. An active member of the American Legion, Michael spent much of his free time at Vassar High School, promoting the American Legion Scholarship Foundation. He believed all children should have the opportunity to attend college. Michael was a family man and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, always attending every game. In his free time, Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching U of M football, going to the casino, and playing Keno, but most importantly, spending time with his family and friends. Michael was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all who knew him.

Left to cherish Michael's memory; son, Steven Gleeson; daughter, Stacy Gleeson; grandchildren: Jenna and Trevor Gleeson; girlfriend of 8 years, Ann Hecht, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Michael was preceded in death by his wife of almost 40 years, Ann Gleeson; parents; brothers: Allen “Bud” Gleeson and Don Gleeson; sisters: Jean Seitz, Charlotte DuRussell, and Royanna Gleeson.
