Violet was born in Mt Morris on April 16, 1929, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and Clara (Summerfield) Brewer. Raised in Mt. Morris, Violet was educated locally. Violet went on to work for General Motors, where she worked in production for over 30 years before her retirement. Violet would meet Stanley Phillips. The two dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on January 25, 1980; sadly, he preceded her in death in 1991. In her free time, Violet liked to craft, play cards, dance, and take walks. She loved spending time with family and friends and going to horse races. Violet was a devoted and active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church for many years. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #4087, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary #64.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Sharlene, and husband, Leonard Atkinson; step-daughters: Barbara Lambert, and Susan, and husband, Mike Quinn; step-son, William Phillips; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Edith Smith; and many nieces, and nephews.
Violet was preceded in death by husband, Stanley Phillips; son, David Risdon; and sisters: Doris Williams and Marian Cooleu.
