Age 71, of Grand Blanc, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2020, at home with his family by his side. A private service will take place at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Grand Blanc on Wednesday, May 27, 2020. Mike was born in Detroit, on September 8, 1948, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert and Lillian (Hult) Meganck. He married the love of his life, Karen Dickerson on September 27, 1969, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, in Burton. Mike proudly heeded the call of duty, joining the United States Army; serving in the 9th Infantry D Company 15th Engineer Batallion, during the Vietnam War for 3-years, earning his honorable discharge on August 20, 1970. Upon returning to civilian life, Mike would begin working on the production line at General Motors, retiring in 2001 after 30-years of service. He was a long-time member of UAW Local #659, and a former Post Commander for the VFW Post #116 in Grand Blanc. In his free time, Mike loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed doing yard work,  bowling, and traveling to Northern Michigan.

 

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 50 years, Karen Meganck; daughter, Tiffaney and husband, William Shields; son, Timothy Meganck; three grandchildren: Emily, Caleb, and Joseph Shields; two brothers: Robert and wife, Peggy Meganck, and James and wife, Polly Meganck; two sisters: Carol and husband, Gary Muylart, and Ellen and husband, Jim Hurd; and many other family members and friends.

 

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Patricia Meganck.
