Obituary of Katy Marie Earegood

Age 65, of Flint, died at her home on Friday, April 24, 2020. A private funeral service will be held at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, followed by a private burial at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to the family to help with funeral expenses.

Katy was born in Flint, on November 28, 1954, to Mr. and Mrs. James and Shirley (Ostrander) Applebee. Raised and educated locally, Katy attended Lowel High School in Flint. She met her life partner, Donald Winn, in 1976 after being introduced by mutual friends. They built their life together and enjoyed 25 years together. He sadly passed away on March 28, 2001. In her younger years, Katy loved race cars and would frequently go to the races at Auto City Speedway in Clio. In her free time, Katy enjoyed being outside working on her garden, tending to her flower beds, collecting old fashioned knick-knacks, and anything Dale Earnhart Jr., crocheting, and shopping. Katy was a loving and caring mother and known as a strong woman.

Katy is survived by her children: Dawn Garrow and fiancé Jim Kelley, Denise and husband, Tracy Congdon, and David and wife, Paula Julian; grandchildren: Leeanne and husband, Cody Travis, Corey Garrow, Ashley Julian, John Smith, Corey Smith, Kristina Congdon, and Donald Congdon; great-grandchildren: Marcus Dodd, Nash May, Erza Travis, Kylan Julian, and Brylee Pierce; brother: Michael and wife, Leslie Applebee; and nephew: Shae Applebee.

Katy is preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, step-father, Donald Hogan who helped raise her, and her loving life partner, Donald Winn.
