Obituary of Jerry Paul Halpin
Age 68, of Mt. Morris, died suddenly, Sunday, December 29, 2019, at Hurley Medical Center in Flint. A Life Celebration will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, with cremation to follow. Jerry’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, January 3, 2020, from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be directed to Habitat for Humanity. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Jerry was born in Flint on April 1, 1951, the oldest son of Paul and Eileen (Elleman) Halpin. Raised in Mt. Morris, Jerry was educated locally at St. Mary Catholic School, graduating from Mt. Morris High School with the class of 1969. Jerry went to work at Knickerbocker Oldsmobile before going to work for the Genesee County Drain Commission. Jerry then found his true passion as a chef. He opened the 2nd Halpin Restaurant in Mt. Morris and eventually expanded into catering. In his free time, Jerry enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, camping, cooking and barbequing, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.
Jerry leaves to cherish his memory two sons: Nathan Halpin and Cortney Gilmore and Jeremy Halpin and Kara Morrow; five grandsons: Alex, Brayden, Jacob, Jaxson, and Hudson; sisters: Sue Boegner, and Melanie Moore and husband, Fernando Molina; mother of his children, Sue Sullivan; nieces and nephews: Carrie and husband, Michael Poehner, Kirk Boegner and Lauren and Aubrey Moore; special friends: Craig and Colleen Freeman, Robert and Trudy Young, Michael and Laura Bunting, Greg and Debbie Bradford, and Mike and Maureen Newman; and many additional special friends and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Tommy.
