Obituary of Iva Figgins
Age 91, of Mt. Morris, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at Stonegate Health Campus in Lapeer. The funeral service will take place 11:00 am, Saturday, July 13, 2019, at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services of Mt. Morris. Pastor Dale Emery to officiate with burial to follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Iva’s family will be present at the funeral home to receive guests on Thursday, from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm, on Friday, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and on Saturday morning, from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am.
Iva was born April 9, 1928, in Scottville, Michigan, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orton and Teckla (Larson) Smith. She married the love of her life, Eugene V. Figgins on March 26, 1949, in Ludington, Michigan. Sadly, he preceded her in death on November 21, 1999. Iva worked at Flint Osteopathic Hospital as a Dietary Aide for 21 years, retiring in 1991. In her free time, Iva enjoyed and loved spending time with her family, reading the Bible, watching Christian Television, listening to Elvis gospel going to garage sales, and bird watching. Her favorite quote was “this too shall pass.”
Left to cherish her memory, children: Doug (Linda) Figgins, Kris (Tom) Miller, Deb (Mitch Franks) Ward, Steve (Jennie) Figgins; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and great-great-granddaughter; sister-in-law, Joyce Pray; brother-in-law, Robert Figgins and his wife; and many other family members.
Preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Figgins; parents; and her brothers and sister.
