Obituary of Iona Mae Folcik
age 94, of Mt. Morris, died Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at Maplewood Manor in Clio. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 11:00 am Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Roy Horning will officiate, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Iona’s family will receive friends at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris, on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Family, friends and parish will gather at 7:00 pm to pray the Rosary. On Wednesday, Iona will be taken to church to lie in state, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Memorial donations may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church.
Iona was born May 13, 1924, in Owosso, Michigan, the daughter of Grover and Deena (Shepard) Riley. She and Henry Folcik were united in marriage on July 23, 1945, in Standish, Michigan. He preceded her in death on February 15, 1989. She worked for AC Spark Plug for 33 years, retiring in 1975. She was a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris, where she volunteered in many capacities.
Iona leaves to cherish her memory, daughter: Anedra and husband, Dennis Lewis; daughter-in-law: Julie Folcik; grandchildren: Jacqueline, and Gregory; great-granddaughter: Harley; and several nieces; nephews; and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Henry; son: Edward Paul Folcik; and daughter: Katherine Deena Bryant.
