Obituary of Bryan Charles Shanks

Age 64, of Lapeer, formerly of Mt. Morris, died on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at his residence in Lapeer. In accordance with Bryan’s wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of Bryan’s life will take place 1:30 pm, Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris. A memorial gathering will take place Saturday from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:30 pm.

Bryan was born April 27, 1954, in Flint, Michigan to late Mr. & Mrs. John and Bessie (King) Shanks.  Bryan grew up in Mt. Morris and Fife Lake Michigan. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1972.  Bryan was a gifted marine mechanic and enjoyed fishing, boating, spending time by the water and listening to music.

  

He is survived by three children: Veronica Shanks, Joshua (Amy) Shanks, Jessie Shanks; seven grandchildren: Dyllan (Lathia) Scott, Brett Scott, Joshua Shanks, Kyrsten Scott, Michael Scott and Carson Shanks; two great-grandchildren: Jordan and Brennan Scott; four sisters: Sharlene (Bob) Reinicke, Jeanell (Don) Ellis, Susan (Larry) Adams, Shiela (Carl) Moore; one brother: Jack (Kathy) Shanks; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.   

 

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Bessie Shanks and nephew Adam Moore.
