Obituary of Mona Rae Burgess
Mona Rae Burgess, age 78, of Burton, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018, at her home. Mona's family will gather at the Martin Funeral, Cremation & Tribute Services in Mt. Morris on Wednesday, December 12, 2018, from 5:00 pm until 7:30 pm. Those desiring may consider memorial contributions to the Kidney Association of Michigan.
Mona was born in Flint, on January 13, 1940, she is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Emmond Carlton and Thelma Katherine (Rye) Horton.
Mona worked as a waitress for Starlite Coney Island in Burton for 40 years. In her free time, Mona enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, and crossword puzzles. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her six children: Carl (Marika) Raby, Marsha (Jeff) Hardwick, Shelly Lang, Brenda Hill, Jeri Eastham, and Rob Burgess; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Horton; and many other family members and friends.
Mona was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, and her grandson.
