Obituary of Shirley L Kowitz

Please share a memory of Shirley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Shirley Kowitz, age 81, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at Hills and Dales Hospital.  In accordance with Shirley’s wishes, a private family service was held Friday, June 15, at Martin Funeral, Cremation, and Tribute Services of Fairgrove; with burial at Brookside Cemetery.

Shirley was born on March 7, 1937, to the late Mr. and Mrs. John and Genevieve Kirk (Reid), in Fairgrove.  She resided in the Fairgrove area for all of her life.  On March 16, 1957, Shirley married the love of her life Keith Kowitz at Fairgrove Presbyterian Church. Sadly he preceded her in death on October 29, 2000. Keith and Shirley’s union bore two daughters Tammy and Terri.

Shirley served the Lord by sharing her musical skills with various churches in the area. People enjoyed listening to her sing and play the piano. Although she played for various churches, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Caro.  Along with raising her family and her devotion to the Lord, Shirley was a beloved employee of Caro Family Physicians. She worked for 52 years, retiring in 2013.

Shirley is survived by her children: Tammy and husband, Jerry Fierros, Terri and  husband Keith, Wilson; grandchildren: Benjamin and wife, Misty Wilson, Megan and  husband Joe, Toft; great-grandchildren: Kyle, Jacob, Haidyn, Alivia, Devin, Carter, Lily; special friends: Carol Murday, and  Sherry Gray.
