Obituary of Ruth Naomi Whitney-Ferguson
Age 89, of Birch Run, died May 18, 2017. A Mass of Christian burial will take place 12:00 noon, Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau will officiate with cremation to follow. Ruth’s family will be present to receive friends at the church on Tuesday, from 11:00 am until the time of Mass at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to St. Mary Catholic Church. Envelopes are available at the church.
Ruth was born June 1, 1927, in Antwerp, Ohio, she is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clyde and Grace (Sunday) Farnsworth. She married Richard L. Whitney in 1943, in Indiana. Sadly, he preceded her in death on October 6, 1969. In 1974, she married Charles O. Ferguson; he preceded her in death June 20, 1989. In her free time, Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, bowling, shopping, and watching game shows and the Detroit Tigers.
Left to cherish her memory, three children: Dianna Marie Whitney-VanAmburg, Sandra Sue (Robert) Walli, and son, Richard Eugene (Jean Conley) Whitney; many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; brother Richard (Sharon Stimac) Farnsworth; daughter-in-law, Helen Whitney; and many other family members and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Richard L. Whitney, second husband Charles O. Ferguson, two sons Gary Lee and Charles Arthur Whitney, daughter Wanda May Whitney-Bicknell, and many siblings.
