Obituary of Rosemary Sedgewick

Age 79, of Mt. Morris, died Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Avalon Hospice in Flint, Michigan. Funeral service will be held at 11:00am Monday, February 6, 2006 at the St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris, Rev. Fr. Thomas Nenneau officiating with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Family will be present to receive friends 4:00pm - 9:00pm Saturday, 11:00am - 9:00pm Sunday. Sunday afternoon the family and parish will gather to pray the Rosary at 2:30 pm. Monday morning, Rosemary will be taken to the church to lie in state from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00am. Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Mary Catholic Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home and church. Rosemary was born October 13, 1926 in Flint, Michigan, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Joseph and Esther (Knickerbocker) Harcz. She married Thomas Sedgewick on November 10, 1949, at St. Mary Catholic church in Mt. Morris. Rosemary graduated from the Detroit Mercy College of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She was a homemaker and volunteer in many areas. She was president of the Flint Alumni of Mercy College, Vice President of the Mother's Service Club of St. Mary School, a substitute lay teacher in the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine of the Church, a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of Mt. Morris with many years as a member of the Altar Society and choir. She won the Mercy College Mother of the Year award in 1964. Rosemary worked as a nurse at St. Joseph's Hospital and Clio Convalescent Home. She worked as an administrative nurse at Riverbend Convalescent Home in Grand Blanc, as well as at Kith Haven in Flint. She also worked as a teacher for the Flint Community schools. Left to cherish Rosemary's memory are her children, Torey and husband, John Maring of Texas; Stephen and wife, Michelle and child, Sarah, of Romeo, MI; Jerry and wife, Jan, and children, Paul Levi and Luc, of Minnesota; Tom and wife, Mary Kay, and children, Paige and Haley, of Lennon, MI; Mark and wife, Jeanette, and children, Andrea, Mark, Joseph and Flora of Traverse City, MI; Terry and wife Susannah, and children Ian, Sarah and Emily of Portland, Oregon. Also, she leaves her loving and devoted brother Paul Harcz and wife, Betty, who was as dear to her as a sister, and many nieces, nephews and their children who have been so loving and close to her. She leaves her lifelong friend, Eva Whalen and the late Dorothy Simms. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandchildren Hannah and Matthew; and her niece, Cierra.
