Obituary of Amelia Jean Congdon

Age 86 of Clio, died Thursday, June 1, 2006, at her home. Funeral services will be celebrated on Saturday, June 3, 2006, at 10:00 am at SS Charles and Helena Church, Rev Father Gerald Ploof officiating, with burial in Thetford Township Cemetery. Amelia's family will be present at the Miles Martin Funeral Home to receive friends on Friday from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm. Family friends and parish will gather at 7:00 pm to pray the Rosary. On Saturday morning, Amelia will be taken to church where she will lie in state from 9:00 am until time of service at 10:00 am. Memorial donations may be considered to a family fund. 

Amelia was born June 30, 1919, in Flint, Michigan the daughter of Harry and Angelina (LaRose) Smith. She and Gerald Congdon were united in marriage on August 31, 1940, in Flint. Amelia was a dedicated wife and mother, who enjoyed painting and the arts. Amelia was the founding member of the Order of Carmelites Discalced. 

Amelia leaves to cherish her memory 5 children: Gary and wife Ruby Congdon, Tracy and wife Denise Congdon, Donna and husband Alan Yokobosky, Mary Tahtinen, John and wife Michelle Congdon, 30 Grandchildren, many great and great-great-grandchildren, 5 sisters: Katherine, Ceil, Evone, Sister Mary of Jesus Crucified, and Theresa, and 2 brothers: Bud and Ray.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gerald, son Ernest, Grandson Gerald, 2 sisters, Unice and Gertrude, and 3 brothers Russell, Walter, and Jack.\
